This Is A Tutorial That Shows You How To: Remove Color Behind Your Desktop Icons. There Are Two Options To Remove Them:
Option 1: Right-Click On Your Desktop And Go To "Arrange Icons By..." And Then Un-Select "Lock Web Items On Desktop." If That Doesn't Work, Try Option 2.
Option 2: Go To The "Start" Menu And Right-Click "My Computer" And Select "Properties." Then Go To The "Advanced" Tab And Under Performance;" Press The "Settings" Button. Scroll All The Way Down The Menu Until You Find "Use Drop Down Shadows For Icon Labels On The Desktop." Make Sure That's Checked.
